Black Dye not black enough...
On my male necro, i bought droknars forge scar pattern and black dye HOPING for a black scar patterned necro. I was wrong...
Black isnt black on those scars, it is like a dull grey. Silver dye looks the same as black dye on these scar patterns.
Please make my black dyed armor piece worth it and make black dye really black.
EDIT:
MY idea of a BLACK DYE effect.
Actual games black dye look.
I have seen a monk with pitch black tatoos on, so why cant necro scars have pitch black color?

I don't know if you actually tried it, but if I remember right silver dye on scar patterns actually makes a freaky unnatural, almost glowing white color, not the grey that black ends up creating.

I too was disappointed with Black dye , but my dissapointment was because I tried to dye my Brown Cloak/Coat Black and all it dyed was the trim, I was expecting it to dye the whole cloak black. So I used a second vial of dye thinking maybe one wasn't enough to dye the whole thing and no change. This did cause some minor frustration and a few bad words(under my breath, I have children) cast at Anet for not letting me dye the whole cloak. After experimenting with dyes on my other characters, I have noticed that the dyes only change the trimmings. I would like to see Anet allow us to choose what part(Main or Trim or Both{even if it uses 2 dyes for both}) of an article of Armor/Clothing. This would mean more unique customization of our Puppets and theoretically a more enjoyable game experience for some/most of us. I am aware that this isn't a "MAJOR EARTH SHATTERING NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATLY" problem, but I'd really love to have my Multicolored Jester Monk *smirk.

See, when i open it in photoshop and use the eyedropper on various parts of the scar pattern, i get a light to medium grey color.
On the left is what black is... and on the right is the actual color when eyedropped.
On a second note: The game is on 1280x1024 on best settings.

Don't know if you're aware but the colour you put on a scar pattern is not necessarily the same colour that appears after t has been dyed.
ie. red dye on a scar will not come out red.
Haven't got the link but its here in the forums somewhere, but there is a post listing what colours appear when dying scars.
hope it helps

I don't believe that the 8k scars can be dyed anyway. This has been mentioned elsewhere, I'm sure.

To OP: I think you meant .8k Scars because 8k Scars is different and comes with a pure black color already.

I think it maybe because it would look too unnatural if it was pitch black, look at what Lustymuffins showed in his example and imagine it on the scar to get what i mean.

The image isnt of 8k scar pattern people...
its forge, its all explained in the first post if you actually read before just upping your post counts....
I WANT it to look darker at least, its not even a black color....
Id like it pure black like cant see in the dark black, but a darkened scar color would suffice as well.
Red looks like brown on scar... tried it before.
Purple looks by far the coolest for any non-white scarred necro (ask for pictures)

Pretty clearly refers to 8k per armor piece. Coincidentally the price of the ascended scars. You wonder why people are confused?

id rather not spend that much when black should look black in the first place
Black is all colors combined so black+ black wont make any more of a black color technically.

Black is not all the colors combined, black is every color except white combined. Gray is every color combined. Black is the absence of white, and white is the absence of black. Gray is what you get when you mix black, white, all the primary colors, all the dark shades of those colors, and all the light shades of those colors together.
On another note, I will agree that black, needs to equal black when it can. For scars, it should definately look black or at least darker than an opaque silver sort.
Then again...black dye's also common as hell and used by everyone who wants to look wealthy, so it's still better to mix black with another color so you look even more rich...

ok yea in reality that makes sense, but in true art terms black is the absense of color and white is all the colors combined :P
though I do agree black isnt black enough, its like dark grey to me, I have it on some of my ranger armor. I wouldnt even mind if u could add more black, sadly u cant
This so needs to be fixed

You're thinking in terms of light, which isn't material at all it's just a form of energy. White light has all the ROGYBIV colors and what not, and black "absence of light" has no "color", but I'm talking simple "paint" color. I got into a wicked long argument with my design teacher last year, and got ten bucks when I just decided to show him.
Well I did go out after this thread and buy some black dye and try it out, I think they just need to simplify armor dying as a whole. On all different armors dyes do different things and it actually kinda pisses me off. My mesmer's 15k virtuoso's set dyes much differently than any of my necromancer armors. I wish they'd just keep one level of "dye...able...ness", and let that be that. I always waste money on dye mixes for armor, and then when I try it out it doesn't even turn out the same, so I have to experiment more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more! I don't have infinite billion moneys for this sort of thing!
